Quick Note before we start. If you follow my blog you will notice on the left column there are various pages that I created and regularly update throughout the day.
(NOTE from Sunset Drive with Brent-)- It appears that Junior (young Male Lion) has found a buddy with another male lion and it looks like the pair are beginning to form their own coalition. Great News for Junior because that doubles his chance of survival.
LETS GO ON OUR MORNING SAFARI
James is our guide this morning with Jeandre on camera. He is moving quickly to Sydneys Dam as there were Lions calling. Jeandre has a very sore foot as he stepped on a nail.
Brent is our other guide with Bryan.
I posted a video of a male Leopard and sent word to Safari Live about it and Brent thinks it was Tingana.
Over to James. He has spoken to other guides from the lodges and they have said that the Lions called again a few minutes ago (James heard it as well) and they are a long way away.
He is going to go to Buffleshoek Dam and see if they might be there.
Looks like it will be a beautiful day
James just got confirmation that they are on the Dam wall and we should get some sort of visual.
We are at the dam and can make out 1 male Lion and 2 female lions. The one female seems slightly angry at the Male Lion and swatted him.
The video is taken without the super zoom as Brent has that Camera on his vehicle and the Dam is actually out of our traversing area so we cannot get any closer.
1 Male Lion 2 Female Lions
440 lb. Taxon confirmed to James that these 2 male Lions are 2 of the Birmingham Boys
Another Birmingham Boy has arrived
Over to Brent. Beautiful FRESH Leopard tracks!
He has left Hubert to continue tracking whom we think is Tingana. (Dominant Male Leopard in our area)

Hubert off in the distance tracking for Brent |
Aubry located 2 more Male lions and 1 Nkahuma female and we have a front row seat!
They are eating an adult Nyala Bull
So now all of the Birmingham Boys are accounted for.
Amazing Beautiful Birmingham Male

AMAZING showing of classic Fleming Grimace
Over to Brent who is still tracking Tingana.
Elephants have created many obstacles and there are many Elephants close by
That tree is GONNA GO!

The Elephants are digging in the mud. Brent says it is to get at minerals. Perhaps salty clay.
Over To James. He said he heard a mention of Karula on the game drive radio.
Brent is in that area and will follow up.
Brent shows us tracks of Tingana which looks like they have moved away from us. Hubert did an amazing job tracking
Over to James who has some Dwarf Mongoose who have come out to soak up the morning sun.
Dwarf Mongoose Soaking Up The Morning Sun
Over to Brent with some Zebras.
Brent says as the dry season continues we will see a huge influx of Zebras into the area
A small bachelor herd.
Zebras are bulk grazers. They are not picky as to what vegetation they eat.
( I am always in awe of the beauty of Zebras)
Let's carry on with Brent
Brent tried on Jamie's hat
Then decided to go back to his beanie

The plan for James is to now head South of the reserve. He is hoping perhaps Karula would be in that area where we got a glimpse of her last night.
Over to Brent- He is heading East for a bit. Even though Karula was heading East last night, she might have zig zagged back.
He would like to see Gijima (Male Leopard) where he has a small corner of territory close to where Tingana has his territory.
He is going to get sandblasted for this comment but his favourite Female Leopard lately has been Inkanyeni. He says she is absolutely beautiful.
Over to James
He is out of the vehicle.
Showing us a False Marulla tree. He picks up the dry leaves from the ground.
He enjoys the fragrant potpourri smell.
Over to Brent with some Dwarf Mongoose heading out on their morning forage.
They heard something so they all scurried off.
Over to James
Giraffes. He is enormous. Perhaps 4 and a half meters tall

Brent has lost signal so we switch back to James who has left the Giraffes now.
We saw a quick glimpse of a woodpecker but off it went
A relaxed group of young Impala
A whole herd of Buffalo moving across the road.
