Sunrise Safari- June 7, 2016

James is with Bryan. Hyenas have come and stolen Karula's kill.

Karula moves off most likely to where her cubs are now

Over to Brent who is looking for Lions

Quick back to James. We see Karula again and BOTH cubs. All are fine and well.

Back over to Brent as James tries to re position.

He has done a large loop and hasnt found any tracks.  He is continuing on and might go to Cheetah Plains.

Update: 3 Birmingham Boys with one female Nkahuma on a buffalo kill near Cheetah Cutline.

Quickly over to James

Karula and her 2 cubs are moving into a thicker area and it is getting difficult to get a good position

Brent says as we head deeper and deeper into the drought every drop of water is important.

Over to Brent who is entering Cheetah Plains.

Right back to James

We see a large Bull Elephant that has lost a large portion of his trunk. James says it is not a fresh wound and he could have been born this way or it could have been from a poachers snare

Watching this animal feed, he has adapted well and appears very healthy.  Brent told James that he has also seen this particular Elephant and he kneels to drink

Over To Brent on Cheetah Plains. He is checking 3 in a row pan.
Not much happening there but evidence that there was a massive amount of Elephants here overnight.
He is now heading to the Northern Boundary of Cheetah Plains bordering Kruger Park

Brent talks about the various types of trees found in this area and why they are not supposed to call Acacia's Acacia's anymore.
Is An Acacia No Longer An Acacia?

We see a GIANT Herd of Buffalo coming back from their morning drink.

Brent says there will most likely be a high mortality rate with young Buffalo because of the drought.

James says these 2 Matimba Males are at least 20% larger then the Birmingham Boys.

James finds it unusual that the one male is keeping his eyes open and watching. This is not his usual behaviour.

They are about 11 years old.

Over to Brent
He is following Lion Tracks
So while he follows the tracks, we hop over to James who is still with the Matimba's

Ginger

Hairy Belly

Their Behaviour Has Changed
Brent did an impossible tree quiz.

Joey from Australia immediately got the answer
It is a Hairy Caterpillar Bush
It has been known to be used in place of the little Blue Pill to enhance a Male's love life.
Over to James
