NOTE: I have a Special Surprise Photo at the Bottom of Today's Post.
We have James Hendry this morning with Wiam Dornbrack
And our other guide this morning is Byron Serrao and he has Bryan Joubert
We start our drive this morning with James who is sitting watching some Wildebeest (also called Gnu's).
Over to Byron
A viewer asked if Animals get frightened by their shadows. Byron explains that they see their own shadows all of the time just as we do and are not frightened by them.
Over to James as the Sun peeps up
RECAP:1 Nkahuma Lioness has 3 cubs on Torch wood.
1 has been seen and is definitely lactating.. was at the buffalo kill yesterday.
Yesterday we saw the 3rd lioness is definitely pregnant.
It is entirely possible that the other 2 are pregnant as well.
James says Apples are the lettuce of Fruit.
Over to Byron
Byron is still getting used to driving and turning his head to talk to the camera at the same time.
The Sun has not quite peeked above the horizon in the area that Byron is driving in yet. A couple of more minutes.
Approaching Buffleshoek Dam
Gorgeous Sunrise at the Dam.
Nothing else at the Dam besides the Sun. Even the hippo seems to be absent but is most likely still foraging on land.
Byron just has an amazing laugh as he mistakenly gets his word confused with what FC actually said.
Thumb or Sun
Over to James who is with some Buffalo
Nice Herd Of Buffalo
Buffs have a democratic vote
And The Buffalo Herd jointly decide to head in a Southerly direction. James is trying to figure out where exactly the Lion sighting is so we pop over with Byron and Bryan.
Over to Byron
Byron is driving along. Hyena tracks are much larger then Wild Dog tracks
Over to James now.
Elephants coming through the sunshine
James is hurrying as there are young Cubs with the Lioness~!
Best approach Lex says is from Weavers Nest.
It must be the Styx Pride.
These are the Birmingham Boys first offspring.
Over to Byron as James is racing along.
It is warming up nicely now. The sun is shining. The Trees in the Fall look so pretty Byron says.
Over to James with the Styx Female and 4 Cubs
Styx Lioness With Cubs
Unfortunately they went right across the road (with many other guide vehicle here as well) and into the Southern area where we cannot go.
So we had 45 seconds of the cubs. (well worth it)
Now The Styx Females had 3 Cubs already when the Birmingham Boys took over the area to be the dominant Male Coalition and in control of all of the Female Lions.
The cubs were about 6 months old when the BB came in and killed all of the cubs in order to place the Females back into Oestrus (heat)in order to have Cubs with the new Male Lions.
This next video is 7 minutes long and needs a little explanation. There are 3 Styx Female lions. 4 Cubs in total. James thinks 2 of the Styx Females each have 2 cubs.
The Lioness we see resting in the shade however is also lactating.
I know the video shows shrubs and foliage but if you are patient, there are good visuals of the cubs playing and calling as well.
More Peeks Of The Cubs
James is quite happy with this amazing sighting
Over to Byron when James says. lets go over to Byron who has "nothing".
Byron said that is good because this is not like a zoo. You have to rely on skill and luck and we appreciate the sightings when we have them.
OH MY GOODNESS!!
This is just SO SPECIAL of a sighting that I didn't get a single Pic but I got the entire video.
PLEASE take the time. It is Cuteness at the highest level.
Byron saw a Female Nyala and there right behind her was a brand new baby Nyala. Mom was still cleaning it and it was getting its legs working.
Newborn Nyala
With Byron Serrao
Over to James
James has heard the call of a Black Headed Oriole.
He might find a tree to tell us about because they don't run away.
James stops at Tree house Dam and decides to get out of the vehicle and check it out.
No Water Now At Tree House Dam
There is absolutely no water left here at all. Rain in any measurable amounts is not expected until October.
Over to Byron and we see a Male Duiker.
Now we see Kudu
Merulla Tree which Leopards Love to climb and rest in.
James has had a report of 3 Lioness's at Red Hill Dam. Most likely the Nkahuma Females.
He is heading there now.
Over to Byron who has a family of Warthogs. A Mommy, Daddy and 4 piglets. A group of Warthogs is called a "sounder".
Over to James with some Dwarf Mongoose.
These little Dwarf Mongoose have made their home in the middle of the road.
The Mongoose have some out to soak up the morning sun to warm up.
As we move along a viewer asks James if he has ever made up an answer to a question?
Has James Made Up Answers
Nkahuma Female Lions

Do not see any sign of any other Hyena's lying about.

James has found the last remaining Flower.
Plumbago Flower comes in pink, blue and purple

James discusses the wonder of watching Impala compared to "Flat Cats"
Flat Cat or Impala Video
Over to Byron for an update from him. He has left the Hyena den as there was only the one Hyena who was sleeping.
Byron is now heading towards the Djuma Waterhole to see if there might be some Elephants there.
Over to James who has a Sow Warthog who has impressive whiskers.
Long luscious hair on her back.
She is the Ramp Model of the Warthog World James says
Back over to Byron
Lovely herd of Elephants at the Djuma Waterhole.
It takes a youngster about 2 years to be able to use its trunk properly.
Little one rubbing his mouth on a branch as if it might be teething Byron says
Nice Breeding Herd of Elephant With Little One Teething
Byron says Goodbye for this morning. Great Morning.
We go over to James who is towering on top of a Termite Mound.
There have been tracks of Shadow so hopefully this afternoon on the Sunset drive James says we might be able to find some Leopards.
Bye Everyone!!
