So Let's go on a SAFARI
We start off this morning with James with Wiam on camera.
We hop over to Jamie and she has dazzling Dave with her on camera.
Jamie stops and sees fresh Lion tracks.
Jamie also sees Female Lion tracks following Buffalo tracks.
Buffalo track on the left.. Lion tracks on the right.
Over to James who drove past an Elephant but Wiam saw it and told him so we got a quick pic.
James hears an update of Karula on Weavers Nest. James radio's to Brent to tell him he will give him a hand in that area.
Brent is with the trackers.
James will stay in the vicinity.
Over to Jamie who has just spotted one of the Nkahuma Females.
So there are 2.
First One and then Two Nkahuma Female lions
Jamie is now stopped and is listening for contact calls to the cubs or from the cubs.
The Lions have not come up on the other side of the drainage line so it could be that this drainage line as suspected is where the cubs are.
Over to James with a beautiful sunrise.
James is talking about having just driven past Tree House Dam AKA Tree House Mining Expedition. The Land Owners have had studies done and they are expecting large flooding when the wet season returns and these dams in their present state would not hold up if there is a flood.
Tree House Dam Mining Expedition
James gets out of the vehicle and finds Karula's cub tracks which are leading directly to the old Termite Mound
James is walking around and sees Karula's tracks as well.
James is on the radio talking to Brent. Brent hears Impala alarm calling.
Brent is on foot in this block with trackers.
James continues on.
Over to Jamie
Jamie went to the top of a Termite Mound and looked down into the drainage line but there is about a million places down there where you can put cubs.
Both Lioness's looked to have full bellies.
Jamie is looking at the game path. The game path tells her that neither of the Nkahuma Females came down this path and it also tells her that the Hyena Den is still active
Jamie is listening for alarm calls but it is silent.
Back with James and he says tracking Leopards can sometimes be frustrating.
James has spoken to Brent and said there are tracks going everywhere.
Brent says tracks going South so Karula may not be in this reserve anymore.
We take a quick peak at the trackers vehicle.
Beautiful mist on the horizon this morning
James explains his schooling and how he got his degree in Science and really had planned on being a Guitar player.
How Did James Become A Safari Guide
Wiam used to work as a camera operator for "South Africa Has Talent"
James says for the 2 sunset drives coming up to be broadcast live will have 2 vehicles out, the rover, a bush walk and the tent. So it will be quite a busy drive.
Over to Jamie and the Elephants have provided a lovely archway over the road.
Warthogs camouflaged in the bush.
Moving along.
Over to James with a large Buffalo.
James says this Buffalo is standing like a statue trying to think of what to do with it's life.
Over to Jamie who has picked up the 2 Nkahuma Females once again.
2 Nkahuma Lioness's Walking With A Mission
While Jamie re-positions we hop back over to James
Brent and his tracker are leaving the area on foot now as they feel the Leopards are running away from them as they have been walking in that area too long.
Quick back to Jamie.
The Nkahuma Female has had their kill stolen by Hyena's. That is how Jamie relocated her again by the sound of the Hyena's screaming and yelling.
The Hyenas protecting their Stolen Kill while The Nkahuma growls angrily
Bone Crunching Sound
As the Hyena's Devour
Their Stolen Kill
The Hooded vultures have also moved in and are playing the patience game.
Over to James who shows us a Male Waterbuk
4 Hyenas still feeding on the Buffalo kill with a few wandering around close by. Lots of Vultures as well.
Taxon gives Jamie an update as to where the 2 Nkahuma Females have gone.
1 has gone to Tambouti waterhole for a drink and the other 1 is still within this block.
Over to James with a female Bushbuk at Arathusa Dam.
There is also a Hamerkop which is looking for frogs.
Grey Heron
Hamerkop and Grey Heron
And an African Jakana (sorry pic is poor)
Back over to Jamie with the Hyenas.
The Hyena's are acting incredibly nervous.
The Female we call "pretty" came right in and showed her dominance and the others moved away immediately
Back with James
who has some squirrels. 3 of them catching a few rays of the sun as it gets warmer.
Squirrels Soaking Up The Morning Sun
And look! Vervet Monkeys too.
Vervet Monkeys
Over to James who is with a herd of Elephants.
Ellies
With James Hendry
There is an Elephant in the brush who got very nervous because a Helicopter went over. So Jamie is sitting quietly waiting for the Elephant to move off. More Elephants on the other side were trumpeting as well.
Back over to James
Elephants are digging up the mud
2 pairs of young Elephant Bulls within 10 feet of Jame's vehicle. 2 in front of the vehicle and 2 in back of the vehicle.
One pair is merely saying hello by putting their trunks in the others mouths while the other pair is having somewhat of a boxing match.
Wiam did some amazing video .
2 Sets of Elephants In Front And Behind The Vehicle
Jamie has retreated out of the way as the Elephant Bull came racing out of the bush and chased the Hyena's away.
She is leaving the sighting as it is too dangerous to stay with poor visibility to keep a close eye on these Elephants.
Over to James
This is not what you think.
This is dominance behaviour between 2 Elephant Bulls
Show of Dominance Between These 2 Bull Elephants
James is carrying on.
Driving up the Western Boundary of Arathusa.
We don't know where Tingana is at the moment. 9 year old Completely dominant Male Leopard of this area. James is driving on the boundary between Tingana and the Anderson Male Leopard's territory.
Over to Jamie who has moved into a safer more open area and the Hyena's have moved into the more open area as well.
Dave lost Bryan's pillow as he was sitting on it and it fell off so they had to retrieve it.
They almost lost it to the Hyenas.
Over to James with Baboons.
Too block signal to get pics but the video appears to improve as it goes on
Baboons
Over to Jamie who found it quite interesting maneuvering her way out of that block
The Female Hyena is back with her cubs in her Den.
Back over to James
James says thank you and bye bye
Jamie says her stomach has butterflies which is going to turn into tumbling Honey badgers as the time for the Live Television show.
And this concludes out Sunrise Safari
