 Let's all get ready!

James Hendy is our guide this morning and has Bryan Joubert on camera.

James is heading around the corner to catch up with the lions.

 And he has found them!

Up close With The Birmingham Boys

While we wait to see if the Lions will call again, we will hop over to Stefan

Stefan has Dave on Camera this morning.
Stefan is on the Eastern side of Djuma close to Torchwood.

Back to James

The Birmingham Boys are stretching and getting ready to be on the move

They stop and ROAR!  ( So loud it vibrated my speakers).

BB On The Move and LOUD LOUD Roaring!

They are off into the brush.

James has a slight vehicle malfunction and Stefan has a black screen.
Shadow has been sighted on the Vuyatela border with her cubs.
James is going to be driving very quickly.

James Has A Slight Vehicle Malfunction

So while James does a Ferrari Safari, we will hop over to Stefan

We saw Stefan for 1 second and then he lost signal so we are going on a fast ride with James

Ferrari Safari
And
Get out of the way Starling!
With James Hendry

Looks like we are here with James but Elvis cannot confirm that Shadow is here. He appears to have lost her.
While James tries to figure it out, we go back with Stefan

Stefan has a very fresh Snake Skin. He knows it is fresh because it is still very soft.

It is difficult to tell what kind of snake it is. but judging that it was found in a branch, this is probably a boormslung (spelling)

To identify it you could do a scale count. This one has 15 scales around its body.

The pattern on the head.

A Flea Beetle just landed on Stefan's hand.

If you squeeze the larvae out of the beetle's body and put a bit onto a spear, it can kill a Buffalo in about 40 minutes.

Over to James who's update is not very good regarding location Shadow.
Poor and miscommunication between the various game drive channels.

Update On Where Shadow Isn't
With James

While James continues his search we got back to Stefan

Stefan has a crab spider to show us.

Back to James because Stefan has lost signal.

He is doing a loop and then we are off to see some Elephants.

Stefan now has signal and he has a caterpillar.

The hairs send out a warning that it's hairs will get caught in your throat. The colouring is also to warn off predators.

Stefan lifts stumps or branches with it away from him to make sure whatever is underneath it would be facing away from him.

Back over to James.
A viewer asks what Jame's favourite bird is.
His favourite is the Cape Robin.
James shows us a photograph he has on his phone of the Cape Robin.

 Buffalo with James

Don't Mess With Buffalo

 Stefan has lost signal
we have the tech problems screen

We go back with James now and he is laughing and laughing.
I guess Brent was in final control trying to set up a method to talk to Arathusa without the guides actually having to be there .
and somehow he took down the entire signal.

James Says Brent caused the Tech Issues

Back over to Stefan

The Path of One's Life Is A Zig Zag
Lots of Dung Beetle Balls. Stefan is trying to figure out why there are so many  dung balls which haven't been buried by the Dung Beetle.
Stefan said the Beetle has buried the balls within the rest of the dung.
He has never before seen Dung Balls this size buried like this.

Over to James with an Elephant.

Elephants can make up to 40 different types of calls.
Females communicate much more with each other then Male Elephants do.

Over to Stefan who has a bag worm's home.

The bottom opening is closed up tight for the winter.

Over to James with a Red Crested Korhaan

Brent Takes A Nasty Fall
During Rehearsals

Clip From Final Control

James sees tracks from Karula where she has dragged her kill and James is wondering if she might be a bit further in the block with her cubs.

Well... Karula isn't on top of the Termite Mound

There are other guide vehicles just on the other side of the Termite mound so James is pretty sure she is there but it just over our boundary so we can not go in there.

James moves on.

Over to Stefan who sees a Scorpion caught and dead in a spider's web. The spiders venom when injected immobilizes the scorpion and liquefies the Scorpions body.

No Poisonous Snakes Or Spiders
Allow in Stefan's Home

And we also see a weird headed Caterpillar

Over to James who has a Bateleur

Bateleur

Better View Of The Bateleur

Over to Stefan while James drives to the dam.

Stefan is showing us the scorpion in the web again for those who might have missed it.

Signal with Stefan breaking up
Back to James who is on his way to Buffleshoek Dam.
James stops the vehicle to fix his microphone and uses Duct tape to tape it to his face.

Back to Stefan with a Spider Web ball
But what is most interesting is that just a bit lower and to the right are hundreds of baby spiders.

The babies will climb to the top of the grass and then send out a stream of silk and the wind grabs the silk and balloons them away.

Back over to James

He shows us some Elephant Dung
----- WAIT
And a Nkahuma Female fast asleep

Nkahuma Female Lioness

Why Do Lions Have Pom Poms On The Ends Of Their Tails

James is leaving this Lioness since she is sleeping so soundly.
James keeps telling us that we will check back in with the Lions this afternoon.
(Sunset Drive is Cancelled for Viewers due to Rehearsals.)

Back with Stefan

Who is attempting to show us some robust roots but signal is so blocky

He  can follow the exposed roots up to 15 yards from this Marulla tree.

Stefan thinks the roots have hit rock and have had to move closer to the surface.

Back with James who know there are Elephants at the Djuma Dam (camera) so he is heading there.

James has his microphone taped now to his chin.
Stefan says thank you on behalf of the Wildearth crew and himself.
Stefan just said we would see him tomorrow for the Sunset Safari, but the schedule says it is cancelled.

James signs off as we end this Sunrise Safari.
