Sunrise Safari- July 12, 2016

Sunrise Safari- July 12, 2016

 Good Morning Everyone!
Jamie greets us on this chilly morning in front of the Hyena Den which appears deserted.  Jamie has Bryan assisting her on camera.

Good Morning from James who has David with operating the camera.

NOTE: The Female Nkahuma who was bringing her cubs to the Buffalo Kill yesterday afternoon arrived safe and sound.  This will begin the cubs moving and staying with the pride. Mom will still suckle the cubs but they will gradually introduced to a meat diet.

A Brown Ivory Tree which is one of the last trees to lose their leaves in the Winter.
The air smells like Cinnamon as the remaining leaves dry out.

Over to Jamie who is heading East but moving very slowly as it is quite nippy this morning. It is very damp.

With James now and we are in position within the next half hour or so to go into Arathusa to see the Nkahuma Lions with Cubs at the remains of the Buffalo Kill.

The area where the tiny newborn Lion cubs that we saw with James yesterday is now a closed site and will remain closed unless the Mom is there. It will me monitored.

Pretty Morning
The Afrikaans language originates from a simple Dutch.

Over to Jamie for her update as we wait to see the Lion cubs with James

There are fresh Female Lion tracks going into the drainage site where we saw the newborn cubs yesterday. Jamie feels the Mom is moving her cubs a little bit closer to the kill site. She will still keep them hidden as they are too young to be with the other Lions  but it would mean less traveling for Mom back and forth from the pride to her cubs.

 Good Morning Ellies

Herbert has once again done his magic. He has found Karula on the other side of Djuma so Jamie will be heading there.

With James and we sort of see the cubs playing. But the reception is very poor and choppy.
There is a video with some good visuals mixed in

 Cubs playing

Final Control is trying to repair the reception

James with our Tech Difficulties.

Back to Jamie. Peter Braat is there and is sorting out the problems.

Back to James

James is listening to Bird Sounds
We see some lovely calm Impalas

KARULA!

 Karula Part 1

Karula Part 2

Hello Gorgeous Karula

Karula continues to be on the move and it is difficult to keep track of her.

James hears a pill spotted Owl and is looking for it.

WOW! James has visited Pinchy's previous home and now has evidence that Pinchy has excavated freshly his little burrow and it appears that Pinchy is with us once again.Pi\nchy is a freshwater crab.

 PINCHY LIVES!

NOTE: Herbert has located Karula's cubs about 700 meters from where we left Karula. Hopefully we will see them on the sunset drive.

Jamie sees Karula again at the old Hyena Den.
She is alert and looking to hunt.

NOTE: Thandi  (Karula's Daughter) has had her Cubs. She is denning them just outside the Cheetwa Lodge.

 Over to James

He is with George and Charlotte (Karula's Cubs) but the view is very obscured.

They are having gastric rumblings.

NOTE: There is a guides meeting going on  this morning where George and Charlotte will be given their official names. We should be able to tell everyone on the Sunset Safari which names have been chosen.

Jamie and James say Goodbye for this morning.

This Concludes our drive for this morning.
