Sunrise Safari- July 13, 2016

NOTE: Just to let everyone know, The Leopard page has now been updated with Hosana and Xongile's Information.

Good Morning to our sunrise Safari. Jamie is our guide his morning with Jeandre on camera

James is our other guide this morning with Bryan on Camera

11C  51F this morning with perhaps a cold front moving in.

We start the morning with a great dose of cuteness.
Hosana
We see a flick of a tail
and Xongile are playing and frolicking in the morning sun

Hosana & Xongile Playing While Remaining Safely In The Thicket

Over with Brent who is out on a bush walk this morning. He has Dave on Camera

Back over to Jamie
The cubs blend in so well with their scenery, it is actually difficult to find them even though they are clearly right there.

James gives us a short peek at the teeny Nkahuma Lion Cubs. They are closely cuddled together while waiting for their mom to return to them.

3 Nkahuma Lion Cubs Cuddling

We wont stay because Mom isn't here. James thinks Mom is nearby as the birds are all alarm calling constantly.

The cubs are starting to explore while chasing each other and pretend stalking.

Xongile and her brother Hosana continue to scamper back and forth taking turns play stalking each other.

Xongile And Her Brother Hosana Having Quality Play Time

All this play teaches and hones their skills.  The play stalking will help them learn how to hunt. Soon they will be catching small things on their owns like lizards.

Jamie says the Big Cats on Djuma have left all of us at Wildearth on Babysitting duty and we as viewers are definitely enjoying the task.

Xongile will be old enough to leave and be on her own by the age of 18 months whereas the Male Hosana will take longer before he separates totally from mom to be on his own around 2-3 years.

Over to Brent who has seen a Honey Badger.

Back with Jamie and our Leopard Cubs

Jamie says she is having the best time she has ever had in her life watching these 2 cubs playing and running all over up and down the drainage line

Xongile will start to mark her territory around 2 years old as her mom (Karula) will give her a portion of her own territory.

Hosana will be much longer before he will begin to locate and mark his own territory. Usually around 4-5 years old.

With James who is going to make his way to Cheetah Plains

Over to Brent who has a small cat track
Serval Track
We are back with Jamie while the cubs although playing and running around, they are completely silent.

(A long period with the technical difficulty screen)

With Brent who is viewing some Impala across the riverbed in a Tambouti thicket
He is on a large game path.
He is heading towards his favourite tree and hopefully he wont fall out of it.

Quite a large branch that an Elephant has broken off of this Weeping Wattle Tree.

We see a cytotoxic centipede

Xongile And Hosana Making The Most Out Of Their Morning

Over with James

He is hacking a branch that has been pushed onto the road.
Only to realize there was another break further up and all he needed to do was to push it out of the way.

James Works Feverishly Hacking A Branch

James is on Cheetah Plains and the roads have been disturbed by Elephants.

With Jamie as she explains how to tell the 2 cubs apart.
The Male is considerably larger then the Female
The Male has Bluish-yellowish- brownish eyes
The Female has Chocolate Brown Eyes

Brent is sitting in his favourite Tambouti Tree. It is about 800 years old.
